A luxurious four-star boutique hotel in Cambridge is up for sale for the first time ever.
The freehold of Hotel Felix, located just off Huntingdon Road in the city, has been put up on the market by business property adviser Christie & Co. in conjunction with property consultants Knight Frank LLP for a staggering £8.5 million.
Known for “consistently [achieving] high occupancy and levels of trade from a strong corporate and leisure base,” Hotel Felix boasts 52 guest bedrooms, four function rooms that serve a number of purposes, three dining facilities including the Orangery and the 2 AA Rosette Graffiti Restaurant, spacious gardens and a gazebo.
The property blends traditional Victorian architecture with contemporary designs and was fully refurbished in 2002. This year, consent to build a further 16 bedrooms and a newly-renovated foyer was granted, which is hoped will continue after the sale.
Current owners, Jeremy and Vivien Cassel of Cassel Hotels initially set up the business, but believe it is time to move on to another venture.
Head of Brokerage at Christie & Co., Jeremy Jones said: “The Hotel Felix represents a unique opportunity for an investor to acquire a substantial, unencumbered freehold hotel in Cambridge, one of the most sought-after hotel markets in the UK.
“With significant asset management and value enhancement options, we anticipate a strong level of interest from domestic and international purchasers.”
Henry Jackson of Knight Frank hopes that the new buyer will “drive the business forward.”
Conveniently situated close to the A14 and M11 motorways, as well as the train station with direct train service to London King’s Cross, Hotel Felix has proved popular for weddings, events, meetings or simply those looking for a weekend away.
The hotel is available with no third-party management for offers and 100 per cent of the company’s issued share capital.
