Browns Hotel in Dartmouth, Devon has been put up for sale, with a guide price of £1.45 million. The boutique hotel is set in a four-storey Georgian property and features nine en-suite rooms, a bistro and bar with room for more than 40 covers and a three-bedroom manager’s apartment.
Owners Mike and Susan Bishop, who acquired the hotel in 2019, have engaged real estate firm Savills and joint agent Stephen Page and Partners to market the property for sale. The hotel is located in the centre of Dartmouth, in close proximity to the popular tourist town’s shops and attractions.
According to Savills, there is potential to create further accommodation within the hotel, subject to the relevant planning permission, with the manager’s flat offering scope to be converted into additional guest bedrooms. The agent also says that the capacity of the restaurant could be increased.
The hotel’s bistro and bar is comprised of three open-plan ground floor rooms, doubling as a café during the day and bar in the evening. In its listing for the hotel, Savills says the bistro is popular with both locals and tourists and benefits from strong, year-round non-resident trade.
Aside from the guest accommodation, manager’s apartment and bistro, the hotel also features a commercial kitchen, private garage, office and dry stores.
Harriet Fuller, an associate in Savills’ hotel capital markets team, commented: “The sale of Browns offers an incoming purchaser a fantastic opportunity to operate a turnkey room operation or unique food and beverage with rooms business.”
“We expect this to be a highly sought after asset with strong demand from a range of buyers. It is a profitable and stylish townhouse hotel, with a busy bistro and bar situated in a popular tourist destination, with potential to add further value subject to planning permission.”
