Estate agents are expecting strong interest in a restaurant that has come on to the market in Kent.
The Barn, based in Lower Rainham, is a Tudor-style building with views of the River Medway from the owners’ accommodation which is also being sold as part of the package.
The restaurant, which is a converted 17th Century barn, has seating for 36 in the main part of the building. There is also a mezzanine floor where the bar is located, with space for a further 24 people. This area is often used for private dining.
The restaurant is currently a family-owned business that specialises in modern British food, using seasonal and local ingredients. It hires out the two rooms for private functions such as weddings, christenings and birthdays.
Agents are expecting strong interest in The Barn because the local eating out market is strong. The property has a guide price of £595,000.
James Hughes, who is handling the sale from the Maidstone office of Christie & Co, told Kent Online:
“The Barn Restaurant is an attractive property and could not be better located for someone looking to run a business in a tranquil setting beside the river.
“The building possesses a lot of character and history and would be ideal for a range of different purchasers, including first-time buyers as well as experienced operators.
“The restaurant currently attracts repeat custom from a wide area alongside a loyal local following. However, there is plenty of room for a new owner to further develop the business to take it to the next level.”
