Family nursery group Kids Planet has further expanded its national footprint with the acquisition of Tiptoes Day Nursery Group.
Lymm, Cheshire- based Kids Planet Day Nurseries runs 213 nurseries in the UK providing both indoor and outside learning experiences to over 30,000 children between birth and 5-years-old. It also uses an app called ParentZone providing mums and dads with regular notifications about their children’s activities.
It was set up in 2008 by mum of three Clare Roberts and her father John Hoban after she struggled to find childcare in her local area. It started with two sites in Warrington and Widnes but has expanded through a strategy of acquiring like-minded nurseries throughout the UK with a focus on ‘the highest quality in childcare” but also greenfield developments.
In its latest accounts for the year to March 31, 2023 it reported a £108,000 turnover up from £66,000 the previous year despite highlighting ‘recruitment challenges’ across the sector.
Tiptoes Day Nursery Group runs seven nurseries across East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull looking after over 700 children. It was founded by local parents in 2007 who, like Roberts, were struggling to find adequate facilities for their children. It has a strong focus on early years education.
Roberts, chief executive of Kids Planet Day Nurseries, said: “Tiptoes is a fantastic group of purpose built settings, expanding our presence in East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull. Its ethos is to work closely with parents to give children the best possible start in life. The committed and caring members of staff are extremely passionate about early years childcare and providing exceptional development opportunities for every child. We look forward to supporting all of the teams, children and families moving forwards.”
In a joint statement former owners of Tiptoes, Helen and Paul Gilson said they were confident that “our beloved nurseries are in the best possible hands”.
The terms of the deal, facilitated by advisors Christie & Co were not disclosed.
