A popular country hotel at the gateway to the Brecon Beacons national park has changed hands in a deal brokered by real estate advisor Colliers International.
Llansantffraed Court, near Abergavenny, is a Grade II-listed property with 21 bedrooms situated on a 19-acre site with a lake, walled garden and helipad.
The site has origins dating as far back as 1670, with the main building being constructed in the mid-1800s. Since 1996, the hotel has been owned by Mike Morgan, co-owner and director of marketing consortium Welsh Rarebits Collection.
Morgan said he was choosing to sell Llansantffraed Court in order to focus on growing Welsh Rarebits Collection, which has a portfolio of nearly 40 luxury hotels in Wales.
“After 23 years, I just felt that the time was right to hand over the reins to someone else, and to focus my energy on my other business interests”, Morgan said, “But I am delighted that the sale has gone through and that a new chapter is about to begin for this grand property.”
Peter Brunt, Head of Hotels Agency at Colliers International, said: ‘’We’ll watch with interest to see what the future holds, the property has a great presence unique to Monmouthshire.”
“The previous owners have successfully run the property and now is the opportunity for the next chapter in its long history. The raise in popularity of these types of properties for wedding venues and exclusive hire events was demonstrated by the considerable interest received.”
