Dorset County Foods Ltd has been sold to Eversfield Organic Ltd this week (21 September).
The company, which traded as Dorset Farms, was placed into administration by Begbies Traynor to enable the deal to be processed as a prepack sale.
It enabled Eversfield to acquire the plant and machinery, goodwill and stock of Dorset Farms, although the amount paid has not been disclosed.
Ian Walker, from Begbies Traynor's Exeter office, was appointed as the administrator. He commented on the successful sale: “I’m delighted to announce the sale of this fantastic business. It means that not only is Dorset Farms’ future safeguarded but it also enables Eversfield Organic Farm to offer a broader range of ethically produced and traceable products to its existing customer base.”
All of the company's staff will keep their jobs and are set to continue working at the same site in Beaminster.
Dorset Farms was established in 1984 and has built up an excellent reputation as a quality supplier.
Organic and other health-focused food products have been performing well recently. Riverford Organic Farms, another major supplier which operates out of the West Country, posted strong returns this year with its latest accounts ending 3 May 2014 showing an increase in profits from £1.1 million to £1.38 million.
Any creditors or employees of Dorset County Foods Ltd can contact Ian Walker to discuss their queries.
