Fri, 05 Jun 2015 | BUSINESS SALE
Chiltern Travel has been sold out of administration, saving jobs and keeping the company running.
The specialist coach hire business entered administration on 14 May with Dean Nelson and Nick Lee of Smith Cooper appointed as joint administrators.
The business was operated in administration while a buyer was sought to take things forward. On 22 May a sale was successfully concluded and the company is moving forward under new ownership.
Michael Roome, commented on the sale: “Given the company’s excellent, longstanding reputation, dedicated workforce and comprehensive service offering, we were confident that once we were in situ that a buyer could be found provided that the business could be held together and continue to trade for a short period in administration.”
He added that suitable purchaser was found and “quite a challenging transaction” was completed, saving 16 jobs.
Chiltern Travel operates from a base in Bedford and provides luxurious coaches and minicoaches to its clients, as well as couch tours in both the UK and Europe.
The identity of the purchaser has not been confirmed by the administrators, but they did note that Mark Stigwood of Attwaters Jameson Hill acted on behalf of the purchaser.
