Outsourcing Giant Capita has acquired an engineering design practice based in Leeds.
BCS Design is a provider of services in civil, structural and geotechnical engineering as well as surveying for the transport and industrial industries. The firm will now join with Capita and its property and infrastructure operation.
Chris Silverwood of Ethos Corporate Finance led the deal, alongside a number of advisers including KPMG's Chris Stott who headed up the team dealing with the seller's due diligence.
BCS Design was set up in 2003 by civil engineer and managing director Steve Osbaldeston. Martin Cure later joined him as a shareholder and director, and both will retain their positions in the firm as part of the takeover.
Osbaldeston said of the acquisition: “Working as part of a major consultancy will allow us to invest in the future growth of our business, further develop our staff, and target larger projects and programmes – as well as giving our clients access to the skills and transformational expertise of a market-leading business.”
Capita Property & Infrastructure executive director Simon Birchall added that the acquisition proved an ideal fit for the business.
He explained: “It reflects our commitment to growth both organically and through the acquisition of strong and innovative businesses that expand our existing teams and provide the best solutions for our clients.”
