According to media reports, a buyer is being sought for the Waterside Hotel and Galleon Leisure Club.
The hotel and leisure club went into administration after a winding-up petition was issued by HMRC, the Manchester Evening News reports. Paul Barber and Gary Lee, partners at Begbies Traynor in Manchester, were appointed as joint administrators earlier this month.
It is understood that the hotel and leisure club will remain open until a buyer is found. Insider Media Ltd quotes Mr Barber as saying, “The business is continuing to trade and, following a number of expressions of interest, we aim to sell it as a going concern.”
He added, “We would like to thank both staff and customers for their support."
The hotel is set in eight acres of land just next to the River Mersey. It has 46 rooms as well as a leisure club, restaurant and beauty salon. The company employs over 100 people and the leisure club has over 5,000 members, whilst the hotel regularly hosts weddings and conferences.
Media reports say that management company Convivial Group is managing the running of the business whilst it’s on the market.
