The Waterside Hotel and Galleon Leisure Club has entered administration, and has been put up for sale.
The business was placed into administration after a winding-up petition was issued by HM Revenues & Customs. Gary Lee and Paul Barber of Begbies Traynor were brought in as the administrators on 13 January.
Mr Barber commented: “The business is continuing to trade and, following a number of expressions of interest, we aim to sell it as a going concern.”
The management firm Convivial Group is running the hotel and club business while it is marketed for sale.
The south Manchester-based three-star hotel employs 106 staff and has 48 rooms, a restaurant and bar. It is set in eight acres close to the River Mersey. It hosts a range of events including weddings, conferences, christenings, funerals and parties.
The Galleon Leisure Club has about 5,500 members. It provides a gym, ladies only gym, 100 group classes each week and a swimming pool. It also offers hair and beauty treatments, has a nutrition clinic, and offers a range of massages.
