A West Yorkshire garden centre has been purchased out of administration, in a deal protecting all 45 employees' positions, the business and its assets.
Whiteleys Garden Centre, which is located in Mirfield, near Huddersfield, has been selling various plants, garden furniture and pet and fish supplies for over 25 years.
Joint administrators Julian Pitts, Box Maxwell and Andrew Dick from Begbies Traynor stepped in to manage the affairs of the business last November.
The £2 million turnover business had continued to trade while a new owner was sought, with no redundancies made.
The buyer is a private investment organisation, chaired by lawyer and turnaround adviser Chris Jones. Reward Capital backed the deal.
Joint administrator Mr Pitts commented, “This is a well-established and viable business with a loyal costumer base which suffered form financial pressures that were not related to its day-to-day operations. As we were confident a buyer could quickly be found, we continued to trade the business, preserving the jobs of all staff.”
“The garden centre generated a high level of interest from potential buyers and it is great news for the business, staff and customers that a deal has been completed so quickly with the minimum of disruption,” he added.
