Raresupply Limited, which trades under the name of Sony Centre, has been placed into administration.
Based in the East Midlands, Raresupply has been selling computers, TVs and other electrical goods for 25 years and has a workforce of 22, with shop branches in Derby, Nottingham, Lincoln and Leicester.
Matthew Cowlishaw and Christopher Farrington of Deloitte have been brought in to act as the administrators to the firm and said the move is attributed to declining sales over the past two years, due to increasing online competition.
The stores have been closed down and the staff made redundant.
The administrators are working with Sony to meet current orders where possible, and to address customer service queries and warranties.
The Sony Centre on Lincoln High Street closed on Friday 11th January, after the administrators had been drafted in the day before.
Paul McCaffrey, the previous deputy manager of the Sony Centre in Lincoln told the Lincolnite: “The truth is that Sony UK couldn’t afford to help us out with decent prices this year, our Lincoln branch was actually doing fantastic and had a great sales team working there.
“If Sony had helped us, we would easily still be open, but unfortunately more and more people turn to Amazon or previously play.com, then get upset that their local shops close.”
