Tue, 01 Oct 2013 | ADMINISTRATION
Mallory Park Motorsports Ltd (MPML) has entered administration, taking with it the Mallory Park race circuit in Leicestershire.
The administration has come about as a result of noise issues. Back in 1985 the circuit was given a noise notice. However, a good relationship with the local council has meant that MPML openly admits to not having followed the notice rigidly.
Complaints were filed over the discretions with regards to the notice, particularly in relation to the track operations that took place last year over and above the four agreed Saturdays. MPML was eventually found guilty of five breaches of the notice.
A statement regarding the administration gave further detail: “British Automobile Racing Club were keen to support MPML (and did so up to the final race meeting yesterday by paying for certain essential supplies allowing the meeting to place) and indeed would have supported MPML to ensure all its trade creditors were paid. To that end, it needed the support of the Landlord with a sustainable rent but, regrettably, this was not possible to achieve.
"Accordingly, having no firm visibility into 2014 and beyond, MPML directors had no option but to place the company into Administration.”
Ian Robert of Kingston Smith & Partners LLP, has been appointed as administrator. He explained that he will be working with stakeholders in the business to ensure that the track will “see racing again”.
