An eatery that was once the most successful restaurant in Shropshire has gone into voluntary liquidation.
La Becasse in Ludlow was long celebrated as one of the finest dining establishments in the county. Under head chef Will Holland the restaurant earned a coveted Michelin star, which it held for three years.
However, despite this and a host of other accolades the restaurant received over recent years, the company has fallen on hard times and its future has been brought into question. Chef Holland left the establishment in last September and it has since struggled to meet the high standards it once prided itself on.
The Shropshire Star reported this week that, following “an extraordinary resolution” to wind up the company and a meeting of creditors, the company had appointed liquidators. The Frost Group Ltd was brought in to advise on the liquidation but there has not yet been any comment released from the firm, nor from the restaurant itself, although a message was sent out on Twitter to state that La Becasse would be remaining open for business.
In a worrying sign of times in the region, the newspaper also added that one of the county’s other top dining pubs, The Feathers at Brockton, has also closed. It stated: “The doors have been closed and there has seemingly been no activity at the site for more than a week.”
