Enact Energy Renewables, one of the pioneering Green Deal providers in Britain, has entered administration.
Begbies Traynor has taken control of the firm, which is based in Cornwall and has upgraded 300,000 properties in conjunction with over 100 local authorities since its beginnings in 1996.
The administrators, Christopher Norman and Ian Walker, are seeking a sale of the firm, which had plans to improve 10,000 buildings over the next five years, a sizeable workload to the value of £100 million.
Mr Norman said: “29 members of the company’s staff were made redundant on the appointment of the joint administrators on account of the company’s insolvency.
“The company had retained some of its employees to assist the administrators in conducting an orderly winding down of the company’s affairs.
“We will now attempt to source a purchase for some of all of the company’s business undertaking and assets.”
It was the first business in Cornwall to gain the Green Deal Provider status from the Department of Energy and Climate Change in January. It counts Tesco, Marks & Spencer and Torbay Council amongst its former customers.
Enact installs solar panels on to roofs so that homes can generate electricity for use, insulation to reduce energy bills and also helps to improve heating efficiency in homes.
