Beaver Maintenance Ltd, a business that specialised in providing maintenance services to schools, has entered administration.
Based in Southmead, near Bristol, the company carried out maintenance work on schools in and around the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas. It was run as a family business since it started 27 years ago.
Fierce competition in the marketplace has been blamed for Beaver's decline. The business has been pushed to appoint Tim Ball, restructuring services partner at accountancy firm Mazars, to handle its ongoing operations and administration.
Mr Ball discussed the current situation with The Bristol Post: "I am reviewing the position of the company and the possibility of selling its business and assets as a going concern. Consequently, all parties should contact me if they are interested in acquiring this business.
"Its failure is due to the recession and intense competition in the building-repairs sector."
Beaver Maintenance had an average turnover of around £1.5 million, according to the Post, and had clocked up a number of accolades in its time. In 2002 the firm was listed as one of the fastest-growing companies in the UK in the Government's Inner City 100 Index.
Since 2006 the company was being run by Denise Randall, who took over from her father, Bob Halliday, who stayed on as a director.
