Patient transport firm Medical Services (North East) has been purchased by a very similar business - ERS Medical - both of which offer transport services to the healthcare sector in the North East region.
Based in Leeds, ERS Medical offers its specialist patient transport and courier services to the NHS and broader healthcare industry, as well as for sport events and occasions. It has bought Durham-based Medical Services for an undisclosed amount, which offers non-emergency patient transport to NHS Trusts, PCTs, private hospitals and local authorities in the North East.
The deal marks a new stage of growth for ERS Medical which will see its present services expand and “continuing our excellent standard of care using MSNE’s additional resource and capabilities”, ERS Medical’s managing director Brendan Fatchett said.
Medical Services’ managing director Wayne Hall said: “The decision to be part of the ERS Medical team was an easy one and we look forward to being part of the leading ambulance service in this country.”
Established in 2012, ERS’s workforce has over 1,300 people in roles such as nurses, technicians and paramedics, and runs its services from 30 sites across Britain.
Medical Services was founded in 2002, and has 62 employees, which will remain with the business post-sale. It has 159 customers including The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and existing services to people will not change as a result of the sale.
Dealmakers at Benchmark International advised Medical Services on the deal.
