The brand agency to Thomas Cook, Thompson Brand Partners, has bought digital agency What Creative with a view to merge the two together.
Based in Yorkshire and trading for 30 years, Thompson Brand Partners’ client list includes Thomas Cook, Confused, Paul Smith and Harvey Nichols. It has also carried out work for the National Trust, NHS Direct and the Southbank Centre.
Once merged the businesses will trade as Thompson Brand Partners from the existing Thompson studios in Leeds.
Set up five years ago by Chris Kemm and Chris Skelton What Creative, also based in Leeds, counts ERS Medical, OTE Sports, Mediacom and Beattie Communications among its customers.
The deal will lead to a 25 per cent rise in capacity for Thompson Brand Partners and additional services to offer clients to include mobile app development, email marketing, content creation and web design.
Its founder and creative director Ian Thompson enthused: “We knew the moment we met the guys that we could work well together. They all have a design sensitivity that is essential, in our opinion, and which we find very unusual in digital agencies.
"We could also tell they wanted to have influence beyond the digital communications of a brand and a desire to grow both as individuals and a team.”
