Wed, 11 Dec 2013 | MERGER
Slater Heelis has merged with Cottrills, creating a larger Manchester presence for the firms.
Anne Irwin, managing partner with Cottrills, will become managing partner of Slater Heelis' Manchester base as part of the merger. She said that the merger opportunity was 'not one to miss out on', adding: “I was already referring work to the corporate team at Slater Heelis. Over the Summer we decided to formalise the relationship when the firm wanted to come back to Manchester.”
Slater Heelis moved away from Manchester as part of a three-way demerger undertaken in 1998. This left the Sale office of the firm to go it alone as Slater Heelis Sale.
The new merger will bring Slater Heelis back to Manchester, and will see the two companies add Slater Heelis' company commercial cases to the work the companies already share, which includes expertise in property commercial litigation, private client and personal injury.
It will also see all four partners of Cottrills become partners with Slater Heelis. Mike Fox will become senior partner. He explained that the two business share the same “values and ethos”, adding: “They [Slater Heelis] care about their clients and colleagues and strive to provide a service second to none. To be associated with Cottrills and see the name Slater Heelis reappear in the city centre makes me extremely proud.”
