A law firm based in the North West of England has further expanded its presence in the region with its latest deal. Butcher & Barlow has merged with Heyman & Co, a Leigh-based firm known for its expertise in residential property, wills and probate.
The merger brings Butcher & Barlow’s presence in the North West up to 12 sites across the region and the company says that it expects the deal to create new opportunities for strategic growth.
Following the closing of the transaction, all current members of staff at Heyman & Co will remain with the firm, ensuring that clients receive continuity of service, while also benefiting from the wider range of services offered by the expanded business.
Butcher & Barlow Senior Partner Jonathan Aldersley commented: “This merger represents a significant opportunity for Butcher & Barlow to expand our presence in the region and we look forward to working with Karen and her team.”
“We are keen to integrate their respected expertise in residential property, wills and probate, which adds to, and complements, our existing offerings.”
“Our combined teams will deliver even greater value to clients, while maintaining the high standards of personal service they have always enjoyed.”
Heyman & Co Managing Partner Karen Baker added that it was “the right time” for the company “to merge with such a well known and respected law firm like Butcher & Barlow.”
She continued: “This partnership brings tremendous opportunities for both our clients and staff, and I am confident that by joining forces, we will continue to provide the trusted and expert legal advice that our clients have come to expect, with even more resources and support.”
Following years of slower activity, the UK legal sector has begun to see growing levels of dealmaking, driven by factors including fragmentation and increased succession planning
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-established firm of solicitors, known for its substantial private client base and comprehensive range of legal services.
