Nursery products business Direct2Mum has boosted its position in the market with the purchase of multi-channel nursery company Bambino Direct for a six-figure sum.
Based in Barnsley, Yorkshire, Direct2Mum sells baby and toddler products online, to include travel and safety items, nursery furniture and prams, as well as feeding and bath time essentials. Founded in 2010 the successful business has doubled its revenues year after year.
The acquired Huddersfield-based company Bambino Direct was part of the Buy It Direct group and is a multi-channel nursery stockist selling brand name products including Chicco, Trunki and Maclaren. Direct2Mum is effectively adding over 5,000 new product lines and 80 key brands to its business.
Near-term plans for Direct2Mum also include a move to new 105,000 sq. ft. premises in Barnsley and a new showroom in the spring. The business is backed by Graham Leslie, the founder of pharmaceuticals business Galpharm International and a former chairman of Huddersfield Town.
Alex Leslie, the managing director of Direct2Mum, said: “This deal has strengthened our commitment and allows us to continue to deliver our vision by offering a more extensive product range from renowned leading nursery brands, enabling customers to purchase everything they need form one easily accessible site.”
Buy It Direct managing director Nick Glynne expressed his joy at the deal: “I am delighted that Bambino Direct has found the right home.
“It’s a cracking business with huge potential and Direct2Mum can give it the focus it deserves.”
