York-based technology services provider Trustmarque Solutions has purchased Opin Systems, in its first acquisition post-management buyout.
Trustmarque was bought in a £43 million MBO backed by Dunedin in May, and presently employs 190 staff in York, Bracknell and Edinburgh.
In operation for over 25 years Trustmarque recorded sales exceeding £130 million for the year to 31 August 2012. Its client base includes some high profile companies such as RBS, Lloyds Banking Group, Sainsbury’s, the NHS and the Ministry of Defence.
Its new acquisition Opin Systems provides IT consultancy services, and similarly has an impressive client list including the United Nations, The Department for International Development, The Student Loans Company and The Scottish Prison Service.
Opin Founder and managing director Graham Curran is to transfer over to Trustmarque and lead the Opin division following the sale process.
Mr Curran said: “Working as a partner with Trustmarque I realised that they were the right organisation to deliver further value to Opin’s customers, while giving the Opin team an opportunity to bring our skills and expertise into Trustmarque’s offering. It’s a great fit.”
Before the MBO in 2011 Trustmarque bought Nimbus Technology Systems as part of its move to strengthen its cloud-based services.
