The Health Club in Clevedon, North Somerset, has been bought by the club's general manager Jonathan Hughes and personal trainer Mike Neck in a management buyout.
The club, which prides itself on being the only private health club in the area, is set to undergo refurbishments under the new management. The premises are a Grade ll-listed building.
The plans involve fitting the class studio with new mirrors, a general professional deep clean, new therapy treatments, an upgrade of the establishment's resistant equipment, and an extension to the mezzanine floor.
The extended mezzanine floor will feature a new cardiovascular area, with views over the town of Clevedon.
Mr Neck said of the purchase: "It has always been a dream of mine to own my own gym and I'm really pleased it is an already established club in a great area."
He thinks the club has plenty of potential. The refurbishment plans will increase its ability to compete with larger clubs in the area.
Mr Hughes commented: "This is great news for existing and new members at a time where money is tight as we are offering new facilities, freezing our prices and introducing a pay as you go membership..."
