Kirklees Council, which serves West Yorkshire, is gearing up to auction off a swathe of unused buildings as part of its plans to reverse its £69 million debts over the next three years.
Eight lots will be up for auction on 4 December at The Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, Huddersfield. The council will expect a significant windfall from successful sales.
It pocketed £826,000 from auction sales in September, following on from the £1 million achieved in May by the same route.
This time round lots include its former council offices in Heckmondwike, with a former shop, and closed public toilets, expected to reach between £75,000 and £100,000 at auction.
The guide price for land at Upper Road, Batley Carr is £120,000 to £150,000. A planning application to build residential properties on the site is scheduled to be considered by Kirklees council on 18 December.
Land at Battye Street in Dewsbury will go for between £20,000 and £30,000 at auction and has an undetermined planning application for residential development attached to it.
Other properties that will be available to buyers include a single storey detached lodge house in Mirfield for £60,000-£70,000, and the former Battye Street School in Heckmondwike for £100,000.
