Commercial property in Sutton could get a facelift if plans from Subsea 7 get the go-ahead.
The engineering, services and construction contractor to the energy industry is in discussions with Sutton Council regarding the construction of new purpose-built offices close to the main railway station.
What is currently Brighton Road multi-storey car park would be rebuilt to allow for the construction of the offices. Meanwhile, Subsea 7's existing offices in Quadrant House, where 300 of its employees work, would be likely to become vacant, allowing commercial property buyers to move in or a new business to rent out the space.
Subsea 7 vice-president, Dave Williams, told the Sutton Advertiser: "We are pleased to be able to announce this proposal for a long-term investment in our presence in Sutton and look forward to sharing our draft proposals with the local community over the next couple of months.
"We are committed to consulting with the local community before we lodge a planning application and want to ensure that we deliver a landmark building that Sutton can be proud to have at this southern gateway location."
Architects are currently drawing up the designs for the new commercial property and draft proposals are due next month, with a formal planning application expected in April.
