The Scarisbrick Hotel in Southport has been put onto the market.
The impressive commercial property, which is located on Lord Street near the Southport Promenade, has a price tag of £3.25 million and is being marketed through agents Christie.
According to The Southport Visiter, trading at the hotel has been 'seriously affected' by the financial downturn. Managing director of the hotel, John Smith, said, “We are exploring all options."
“We’ve got to look at what direction we need to go in as a business. Like many businesses in the whole of the country everyone is looking at where they are and looking at their finances to see what they need to do,” he added.
The Visiter has reported that the Scarisbrick – which currently employs 130 staff - is likely to be sold to a hotel group, so its future remains secure.
The 88-bedroom Scarisbrick Hotel – which also offers extensive conference and banqueting facilities - is the second major commercial property located on Lord Street to be put onto the market recently.
The Bold Hotel is also currently up for sale at £1.7 million though agents Colliers International.
