Catalogue fashion retailer Redcats (UK) has disposed of 11.1 acres of its land located near Wakefield, in West Yorkshire, to a house builder.
Ben Bailey Homes has purchased the land for an undisclosed amount with a view to constructing a series of new homes on the site. While Redcats, also known as La Redoute, has retained the remaining land for its own distribution warehousing needs for the French mail order business La Redoute.
Planning permission to build homes was given last year for the site on Standbridge Lane in Kettlethorpe. The plans involve constructing 129 residential units that will be two/three storeys high and a variety of terraced, semi-detached and detached homes.
The land had been sold by informal tender and had piqued the interest of local and national house builders alike. Redcats had its planners Johnson Brook design the layout of the residential site plans “that both complements and supports the future development of the site,” Craig Roberts, Redcats’ head of legal & HR said.
JLL in Leeds managed the sale process. Its head of residential Guy Ackernley commented: “This site, when redeveloped, will provide good quality residential properties located just a few miles form Wakefield city centre and the M1 motorway.”
