A country house hotel in the Peak District is hitting the market for £2.35 million. The Izaak Walton Hotel is a three-star rated, 38-bedroom hotel located within the Peak District National Park.
The hotel dates back to the 17th century but has been modernised and extended. It features five functions room, a restaurant and bar and lounge space, with most of these facilities overlooking the Derbyshire and Staffordshire peaks.
The hotel sits on 3.25 acres of land and benefits from repeat business from corporate guests and attendees of nearby vintage car events. It holds a license to host weddings, with space for a celebration marquee in the gardens, and also features three staff bedrooms.
The hotel was named after writer Izaak Walton, author of the Compleat Angler, and the hotel is popular among anglers fishing on the nearby River Dove. The hotel’s restaurant, the Haddon Restaurant, holds a 2 AA Rosette and is a popular attraction in the area in its own right.
The Izaak Walton Hotel has been owned by hotelier Terry Davie since 2019, but he is putting it up for sale due to emerging health reasons. The property is being listed for sale by property agents Colliers.
Josh Sullivan from Colliers' Hotels team commented: "This is a fine opportunity to acquire a charming hotel in a commanding location with a strong trading history and robust future bookings ledger.”
"Ideally located within the popular Peak District Izaak Walton Hotel plays to its strengths of having access to the River Dove, stunning grounds and the opportunity to add further outdoor accommodation to the mix. The hotel is in a delightfully tranquil setting, yet well positioned to accommodate the large visitor numbers that return to the region year after year."
