A farm located close to Edinburgh that features an 80-seat café and organic farm shop has been put on the market, with offers of over £1.5 million being sought for the business. The Whitmuir farm in West Linton has been brought to auction by property agent Galbraith on behalf of the current owners.
The site comprises the farm shop and café, as well as a variety of farm buildings, five-bedroom house, and close to 140 acres of land, including farmland and woodland. According to Galbraith, the farm is a well-established business with a loyal customer base that generates average annual turnover of around £680,000.
The farm features a purpose-built butchery and kitchen, an office, store and processing rooms. An on-site barn is currently let to an antiques business, while another area of the farm is let to a plant nursery. Galbraith added that the farm's land is well-suited to grazing animals and the production of fodder.
The site has been operating as an organic farm since the current owners acquired it in 2000 and began selling the farm’s meat, fruits and vegetables at the farm shop and through a delivery service.
Galbraith’s Duncan Barrie said: “The current owners have created an award-winning diversified business which is noted for its environmental credentials and has become a destination in itself.”
“The purchasers would have the opportunity to continue the existing enterprise or further develop some of the buildings and site if desired, subject to the necessary consents.”
