Six Senses London, a restored art deco emporium that is set to open as a hotel in the capital early next year, has been acquired by an Italian real estate group in a £180 million deal. Gruppo Statuto has entered into a binding agreement to acquire the hotel from The Whiteley London.
The 109-bedroom hotel, situated within The Whiteley London apartment complex in West London, will retain a number of original features upon its opening, including a grand stairway that will be situated in the building’s lobby.
In addition to its rooms, the hotel will also feature 14 branded, fully-furnished luxury residences, serviced by Six Senses. Six Senses has a 30-year agreement to manage and brand the hotel, with the option for this to be extended.
The Whiteley complex is comprised of 139 homes, managed by the adjacent hotel and featuring services and amenities provided by a curated range of commercial tenants. The building is being brought forward by development manager Finchatton and joint venture investment partners C C Land and MARK.
The hotel was put on the market after The Whiteley engaged Spartan Advisors and Taylor Wessing to manage the sale process. Gruppo Statuto, a leading Italian real estate group, were advised by Baker McKenzie on the transaction.
Gruppo Statuto owner Giuseppe Statuto commented: “With this specific deal in such an international city, we are proud to be a player in the first Six Senses London opening, providing international travellers a new iconic experience.”
“Our strong bond with hospitality brands in the luxury segments continues in its growing. Furthermore, Gruppo Statuto is strengthening its role in the European market, with such an important milestone as London.”
Adam Goldin, Head of UK, C C Land, said: “Gruppo Statuto has a unique vision for luxury brands having acquired a strong portfolio of leading international hotels across Europe. Six Senses London benefitted from high investor demand but, given the existing relationship with the Six Senses brand and track record of relevant experience, Gruppo Statuto proved the right fit as a long-term custodian.”
