There is a pub for sale with planning permission in Southend after plans to develop the site fell through.
The plot, located on the town's Western Esplanade, was being worked on by Renewal Southend and the group had hoped to turn it into a 58-bed luxury hotel development in time for the launch of the Olympics.
But despite receiving planning approval from the Southend Council in April 2010, it appears the ambitious proposals have collapsed and the pub and surrounding land are now due to be advertised for sale for £1.1 million, the Southend Echo revealed.
Mike Gray, managing director of Dedman Gray which is selling the site, stated that the property is likely to be attractive to other developers. He told the paper: "We are looking for expressions of interest in either building the hotel consent or refurbishing the existing bar and restaurant.
"Whichever opportunity is taken, it would be nice to see someone make full use of the fantastic roof terrace and views over the estuary."
There are some complications with the sale, however, as only the pub itself is up for sale. The surrounding land remains in the hands of the council, although it does still have planning permission attached to it until 2013.
Established in 2004, the business has established a strong reputation among key public and private sector customers in Northern Scotland and across the rest of the UK.
We are pleased to present an exceptional opportunity to acquire a well-established and profitable haulage company based in the North West of England.
This is a superb opportunity to acquire a well-established, window and door retailer/installer based in Boston, Lincolnshire, available on a leasehold basis.
