The Windmill Tavern in the Lancashire village of Clifton, which features a grade II listed windmill, has been put up for sale with a guide price of £325,000 after its owner fell into administration. The pub is being marketed for sale by property consultancy firm Eckersley.
The pub was previously owned by Provincial Hotels and Inns, which operated a portfolio of traditional pubs, taverns and restaurants. Last year, The Windmill Tavern was part of a package of pubs put up for sale with a £1.8 million asking price, alongside the Blue Anchor in Bolton-le-Sands, the Major Inn in Cockerham and the Ring o Bells and Yorkshire House in Lancaster.
However, Provincial Hotels and Inns was placed into administration in June 2021, with Patrick Lannagan and Julien Irving of restructuring agents Mazars appointed as joint administrators. The Windmill Tavern now looks set to be sold off separately to a new owners.
The pub has recently been extensively refurbished but still retains traditional features such as wooden beamed celings. It is located approximately four miles north west of Preston and around 11 miles from Blackpool.
The site extends to around 1.56 acres and features a car park and extended beer garden in addition to the main public house. The windmill is thought to date back to 1778 and received listed status in 1967.
