A grand piece of commercial property has come up for sale in Burton, with offers being invited for the former county court building.
The Grade-II listed building closed its doors as a court earlier in 2013 and the freehold on the commercial property is now up for grabs.
Located on Station Street, the building is likely to need some work to bring it up to standard as a modern office building, but the selling agents have stated that it is available for "alternative uses".
Valerie Burton, president of the Burton Civic Society, told local paper the Burton Mail that while the property is available for new usages, the buyers will need to be mindful of its heritage. She said: "It is a very important building in Burton and it is Grade-II listed so any changes to it would have to go through the planning authorities."
The president added: "I'm not sure how much car parking there is there but it shouldn’t be an issue with the public car parks nearby. It would be a great shame for the building to go anywhere but there are so many like it in Burton in need of a new use.
"We will certainly be keeping an eye on it and will want to make sure it doesn’t deteriorate in anyway."
Commercial property firm GVA is marketing the building, which is being sold on behalf of Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service.
