A caravan park near Whitby, North Yorkshire is up for sale for £1.5 million after the site’s owners decided to retire. The sale has been called a rare opportunity in a desirable holiday area, with the site described as an “attractively situated caravan park located in an ideal position for tourists being located between Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay.”
With international travel highly curtailed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the site is the kind of business that could reap the rewards of the UK’s “staycation” summer.
The holiday site is situated within the North York Moors National Park and is set amongst 4.65 acres of grounds. The park is licenced and has 30 static pitches, nine touring pitches and an area for camping, as well as showers and w/c facilities.
Cundalls, the firm overseeing the auction, say that there is potential for further developments to the site, subject to consent.
The auction also includes a four-bedroom period house, featuring a private garden and an annexe attached. The annexe is a barn which is externally completed and has planning consent, with Cundalls saying that it offers the opportunity to be marketed as a holiday let or to be incorporated into the main house.
Cundalls Director Tom Watson commented: “It is in a national park where it is incredibly difficult to get permission for a new caravan park. This is an established park in a lovely part of the world, so this sale is a rarity. It’s going to be popular. It is a retirement sale; the current owners have been there about 20 years and want to retire.”
