A food production site in Northamptonshire covering around six acres has been put up for sale with an asking price of £4.95 million. The sale of the 94,000 sq ft site in Corby comes following the collapse of previous occupier Orchard House Foods earlier this year.
Orchard House Foods, which also operated from a site in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, fell into administration in January 2023 after suffering from increased input prices and overheads, which put pressure on its cashflow position and saw it report a £7.66 million loss for the year to June 2022.
The company’s former production facility on Corby’s Earlstree Industrial Estate is now being brought to market by Landwood Group on behalf of the firm’s administrators Grant Thornton.
Orchard House Goods, which employed 607 staff at the Corby facility, produced fruit drinks, prepared fruit and chilled desserts, which it supplied to retailers across the UK and Ireland, including Sainsbury’s, Greggs, Marks & Spencer and Pret a Manger.
The firm’s Corby site comprises three factories, a warehouse, office buildings, a wastewater treatment plant and parking for 38 cars. The facility’s location benefits from close proximity to major transport links, with the Earlstree Industrial Estate being a key hub for several manufacturing and distribution firms.
Commenting on the sale process, Landwood Group director Helen Jude said: "This huge site is in a prominent position on an industrial estate with excellent access and transport links.”
"The site offers real potential for a number of different uses, from its current purposes as a high-quality food production facility, to warehouse and distribution or for redevelopment. The potential to split the site and reconfigure it are also an important part of why the site is attracting so much attention."
