The UK’s largest independent cleaning and hygiene products company Zenith Hygiene Group has acquired UK chemicals supplier CCL Pentasol for an undisclosed sum.
CCL Pentasol, which was founded in 1985, supplies chemicals to various sectors, including brewing, drinks, dairy, food, pharmaceutical and water treatment industries. The chemicals supplier says it has adopted a successful strategy of operating flexibly and proactively to meet the demands of the food and drinks industry from its purpose-built factory in Merseyside. It reported a turnover of £8.3 million in the year ending 31 August 2015 and has 55 staff at the time of the acquisition.
Zenith Hygiene Group will fund the acquisition with a recent £13.9 million funding package secured through the corporate arm of banking giant Santander. The company is particularly excited about expanding into the growing market for water treatment products, according to a press release.
Ringo Francis, the chief executive of Zenith Hygiene Group, said of the deal: “We’re delighted to be announcing this exclusive agreement to acquire CCL Pentasol.
“The acquisition will open Zenith Hygiene to new markets, strengthening our position in the food and beverage industries, and provide significant growth opportunities for the business.
“We look forward to working closely with the CCL Pentasol team to ensure a smooth transition and complete the transaction as quickly as possible. Going forward, we will continue to look for opportunities to acquire businesses like CCL Pentasol which will drive meaningful growth for the future.”
Alex MacDonald, the managing director of CCL Pentasol, added: “Zenith Hygiene Group is one of the most respected independent manufacturers and suppliers of cleaning and hygiene chemicals and products in the UK, and we are very excited to be joining Ringo and his team. We’re confident that together we will continue to drive value for customers, partners and our employees in the UK.”
The acquisition of CCL Pentasol is expected to be fully completed by the end June 2016.
