Welsh record label, Sain Records, which has published music by a large number of high profile Welsh artists since its inception in 1969, has been put up for sale.
The owners of the record label said the timing of the sale is right as they are “getting on in years.” The BBC claims that the back catalogue, from artists including Catatonia, Bryn Terfel, Catrin Finch and Meic Stevens, is thought to be worth “a considerable amount”, although the value of the sale has not been released publicly.
The firm currently employs 24 people and the owners hope to sell the label as a going concerns so that it can continue to operate.
Singer Dafydd Iwan, a director at the company, told the BBC: "It's a good time to see if there's anybody out there who wants to run a major Welsh recording company for the future for the sake of the artists and for the sake of the staff - and I'm sure there are people who will be interested."
He said he hoped it would find a buyer who was interested in more than the label’s back-catalogue and copyright.
