A watermill in Shropshire that provides flour to customers across the UK has been put up for sale with a price tag of £1.4 million.
Husband and wife Matt and Anne Scott are selling the family-run business as they seek a fresh challenge. The Bacheldre Watermill is located on the Shropshire border and produces organic and traditional flour for a nationwide customer-base.
The business, which was taken over by the Scotts in 2002, boasts Waitrose as one of its clients. In the 12 years they have run the Bacheldre Watermill the family has invested more than £500,000 into the site and built up their business, winning about 20 awards in the process and three years ago they even welcomed Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall to the premises.
The mill comes with a three-bedroom house, four apartments and a 1.5-acre caravan site. Furthermore, Matt Scott stated: "We have got a focused and exciting business plan which we can share with the new owners to give them inspiration to enter new markets and quickly reach £1 million turnover.”
He added: "Nothing is going to change and nobody will go without flour on my watch… "We have built it up to a good level and developed a brand which is very reputable in all the right places, but now its the time to move on to the next chapter in our lives and hand the baton to someone who can bring investment to take the business to the next level."
The Shropshire star reported that the sale of the watermill is being handled by Halls’ commercial manager James Evans.
