Sutherland’s Dornoch Castle hotel has been put up for sale by its owners with a price tag of £2.5 million.
Owners Colin and Roselyn Thompson have made the decision to sell the commercial premises – which dates from 1480 – due to other business interests.
The hotel, which lies 40 minutes from Inverness, was originally built for use as a palace by the Bishop of Sutherland, reported Caterer Search.
Set in beautiful countryside, the hotel also lies within close proximity of the Royal Dornoch golf course and the 12th Century Dornoch cathedral, where Madonna and Guy Ritchie had their son, Rocco, christened.
Owner Colin Thompson told Caterer Search that the hotel has ‘25 rooms, a restaurant, bar and lovely gardens.’
Handling the hotel sale on behalf of the owners is Knight Frank partner David Reid. “I have sold the Royal Dornoch hotel, which attracted huge levels of interest and sold within a couple of weeks of coming on the market.
“With its amazing history dating from the 15th Century, there is no question that Dornoch Castle hotel will receive similar international interest, and the fact that it is trading very well with exceptional profits will appeal to a huge variety of buyers,” added Mr Reid.
The successful purchaser will acquire a fast growing, leading independent recruitment agency, providing temporary, contract, an permanent positions and solutions across various sectors nationwide.
It’s a family business, known for its reliability, its good network and competitive pricing, working for well-established builders and civil engineering companies, enjoying an excellent reputation, predominantly in Manchester and the Northwest.
