Steeton Hall, a hotel which closed last month, has been put up for sale on a freehold basis.
Located in West Yorkshire, the Grade-II listed building dates back to 1662 and has been used for a variety of different purposes, including a boys' boarding school. It was converted to a hotel and restaurant in 1983.
Punch Taverns currently owns the ten-bedroom hotel but is looking to sell it after continuing to run it under temporary management since April when the previous tenant suddenly left.
The temporary manager was not overly invested in the future of the hotel given that his experience lies predominantly in managing pubs. He has however offered the staff he took on for the hotel alternative jobs within his businesses.
CBRE and Westlake & Co. have been appointed as joint agents to sell the Station Road building.
Sam Frankland, director of the specialist markets team at CBRE, told the Craven Herald: “The property, which is a popular wedding venue, is ready-made for a keen entrepreneur to develop the business and is certain to attract keen interest due to its charm and character.”
