Domiciliary care provider Pathways to Independence has been sold on to Springfield Home Care Services.
Business Growth Fund, which invests in SMEs to support growth, sold the care business for an undisclosed amount to Springfield this month, after Pathways had been on the market since May.
Founded in 2008, Pathways to Independence operates three domiciliary care centres in the North East and offers a range of support services to adults with disabilities, including autism, behavioural distress and mental health issues, across Hartlepool, Darlington, Stockton on Tees and Durham.
It has steadily grown its turnover and profits over the years and has strong relationships with local authorities and external agencies. It offers short break services, group and one to one support, and leads leisure, exercise and education activities for its clients.
Pathways’ new owner Springfield Homecare Services, trading as Springfield Healthcare Group, also focuses on domiciliary care. Established in Garforth, near Leeds in 1968 as a family run care home it now comprises several businesses: Springfield Carehome, Springfield Apartments, Springfield Homecare and Definitive Training. It has a workforce of 600 and sales of £8.4 million.
Bolton-based KBS Corporate advised on the sale. Its Corporate Manager Neil Leach commented on the deal: “The purchase of Pathways will add further to their extensive strategic growth plan both geographically, and to assist with their entry into a niche domiciliary care area they are not already involved with.”
