RWK Goodman, a top 100 law firm with locations across the South of England, has acquired the current clients and files of a specialist personal injury and clinical negligence boutique firm based in Swindon.
Founded in 1996, SJ Edney & Co has acted on behalf of more than 2,150 clients, mostly based across Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, as well as further afield. The acquisition comes following the retirement of company founder Seamus Edney.
Paul Rumley, partner in RWK Goodman’s Clinical Negligence Division, commented: "Our Injury Division has worked closely with SJ Edney & Co for many years, and we are pleased to be able to build on this relationship by continuing to provide exceptional service to their clients going forward."
Seamus Edney stated that the company had “been dedicated to providing our clients with personalised, compassionate service” and that it had built strong relationships since it was formed nearly three decades ago.
He continued: "Entrusting RWK Goodman with our clients was a decision made with their best interests at heart. I have full confidence in RWK Goodman’s team to continue delivering the exceptional care and attention our clients deserve, and I am grateful for their commitment to upholding our legacy of trust and excellence."
RWK Goodman Head of Injury Tracy Norris-Evans said that the firm was “committed to having a positive impact on the lives of individuals who have suffered serious injuries” and that they would seek to build a team around SJ Edney’s clients and their families in order to support them throughout the legal process and beyond.
The acquisition adds an additional presence in Swindon for RWK Goodman, which has an existing office at Newbridge Square. The company was founded in 1873 and has more than 570 staff, working across 36 specialist areas and three core divisions. The firm has offices in Bath, London, Oxford, Swindon, Bristol, Marlborough and Thame.
