The former Torpoint Rowing Club in Plymouth has been sold by Stratton Creber Commercial, the Plymouth Herald has reported.
Trustees of the club instructed Stratton Creber to advise on the freehold premises in August last year. The club is situated on Ferry Street, the main route into Torpoint. Overhanging the shoreline, the property has good views over the river and across Mount Edgcumbe Estate.
The two-floor club was built in the 1960s. It includes accommodation over both floors and has always been a popular social venue for locals and visitors.
The lower ground floor features a boat store which is secured with a roller shutter, as well as offering access to the river. It also has a bathroom, kitchen, function areas, offices and space for storage. Meanwhile, the first floor looks out impressively over the river and offers an open plan space with a large bar and terrace, as well as bathroom and kitchen facilities.
As part of the deal, the buyer, who was not named in the Herald's report, also received a large car parking area with a 20-vehicle capacity as well as further land for potential development.
Stratton Creber Commercial reported that there was a high level of interest in the property so a “best and final bids process” was run in September and the deal was completed recently.
The sellers were inviting offers over £270,000 for the freehold interest on an unconditional basis but the final sale price is not known.
