PE-backed law firm adds locations across the UK with acquisition

Stowe Family Law, a law company backed by private equity firm Livingbridge, has acquired Crisp & Co Solicitors, in a deal that adds new locations across the UK. Crisp & Co has more than ten locations in London, as well as offices across the South of England and in Manchester.

As well as enhancing Stowe’s geographic scale, the deal also bolsters its ability to support clients facing family law issues, including child arrangements, divorce and financial matters. Stowe Chairman Ken Fowlie said that the deal adds “depth and breadth to our offering”.

Fowlie continued: "Enquiries into the firm continue to trend high as divorce figures increase across the UK, and the acquisition of will help us support more families as they navigate the issues associated with a relationship breakdown.”

Stowe Regional Director for the South Jemma Slavin, who will head up the new team, said that the deal reinforces the firm’s commitment to delivering “exceptional service” and would enable it to better serve its growing UK client base, particularly in the capital.

Leeds-based Stowe Family Law was acquired by Livingbridge in 2017 and since then has grown to have a network of close to 80 offices across England and Wales and a team of over 160 specialist family lawyers.

The acquisition of Crisp & Co is the third takeover the firm has completed since it was backed by Livingbridge, following deals for Chapman Pieri last year and Watson Thomas Solicitors in early 2023.
