The price for Liverpool’s Parr Street recording studios and hotel has been drastically reduced to £1.9 million in an effort to stimulate interest in the sale.
The site went on the market for £2.95 million in September last year, and only received two “cheeky” offers city councillor Gary Millar said.
Gary Millar, Steve Macfarlane and Thomas Lang rescued the site from being closed down in 2006. They also put in place a five-year plan to oversee the installation of new office space, the hotel and second bar.
The venue, built as a commercial premises in the 1930s, was previously owned by the Genesis front man Phil Collins through a firm called Hit And Run. Performers including the Spice Girls, Stone Roses, Take That, Barry Manilow and Black Sabbath have all recorded tracks there.
The building today features two Grammy-award winning recording studios, two bars, 11 offices and an 18-bedroom hotel. It also contains certain collectors’ items such as the piano that was used by Coldplay to write and record their early hit song Yellow.
The building is located at 33-45 Parr Street, close to Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport.
