Shift, an on-demand logistics tech platform, has announced that it has acquired B2B specialist courier and transport logistics firm Techlogico.
The acquisition of the Pontefract-based company marks the third business purchase made by Shift in the last six months.
According to a Shift spokesperson, the purchase is part of its strategy to build regional scale to ensure it is able to provide enough driver support around the UK to fulfil its expanding demand from its consumers. Currently, Shift operates around the UK but is recognised as a leading service provider for the north of England.
Commenting on the acquisition, Jacob Corlett, CEO of Shift stated that the company was keen on capitalising on the new trend of customers and businesses seeking a personalised on-demand user experience at a low cost.
"Taxis, food delivery and hospitality services are now providing on-your-schedule solutions, but without a premium price tag, and Shift believes that the courier market should be no different," he said. "We have developed a solution that is able to do this using a unique algorithm to identify empty transport space from across the Shift network of fleet and independent drivers, finding the best-fit driver for the customer."
Corlett added that Shift was originally created to offer a cost-effective solution that keeps consumers at the core of the business, but now requires additional infrastructure to ensure continued successful growth.
He added: "Since we started in 2017 we have rapidly built a network in the UK and continue to explore further small acquisition opportunities in the UK and overseas in order to further scale our business and provide a better service. We look forward to integrating Techlogico onto our platform."
