Horticultural and green workplace services provider The Nurture Group has continued its M&A-led growth with the acquisition of Hortech Limited. Headquartered in Stone, Staffordshire, Hortech Limited is one of the UK’s leading providers of environmental services.
Hortech was founded in 1987 and is a multi-activity environmental services company, providing tailored ground maintenance, arboricultural services, pest control and invasive weed control. The company serves thousands of sites across the UK, with a diverse client base spanning the industrial, utilities, telecoms and facilities management sectors.
The firm generates annual turnover of £8.5 million and has a workforce of more than 100 staff working from a network of regional depots across England, Wales and Scotland.
The deal is The Nurture Group’s fifth of 2024 so far and 49th in total since it was founded in 2008. So far this year, the group has acquired Spacecare Limited, Gristwood & Toms, Roy Cowie Limited and Midland Pest Control. The company uses M&A to consolidate its national footprint and enhance its comprehensive service offering.
The Nurture Group founder and Executive Chairman Peter Fane said that the acquisition of Hortech was the perfect deal to underpin the group’s priorities in sustainability and environmental services.
He added: “As a carbon neutral business proud of our compliance with the global PAS 2060 standard, this is the perfect marriage for us as we reinforce our environmental service lines across our UK network.”
“The company’s arboriculture expertise integrates seamlessly with our recently acquired Gristwood & Toms business, consolidating our reach and footprint in the north of England and Scotland. Moreover, their diverse range of services not only complements ours but introduces new offerings, such as invasive weed control, which is a great addition to our portfolio.”
Fane said that the acquisition solidifies Nurture Group’s position “as the lead consolidator and acquirer of choice in the market, allowing us to continue building national scale across all our core services.”
Hortech Director Duncan Jones said: “At Hortech, we take great pride in providing clients with tailored solutions and exceptional service, leveraging our in-depth industry knowledge and expertise. We share Nurture Group’s passion for delivering first-class service, and our portfolio aligns perfectly with theirs, especially in the northern regions where Nurture’s operations have recently expanded.”
“Both businesses share similar values, focusing on teamwork, respect, and honesty, making this partnership a natural fit.”
