Leeds-based telecommunication company Northern Telecom has expanded its UK coverage, following the acquisition of a Welsh wireless provider.
Northern Telecom has acquired Dyfed Telecom, based in Kidwelly, out of administration thanks to legal support from Mincoffs Solicitors’ corporate team.
Dyfed offers satellite, fibre & mobile broadband, along with complete telecoms services for homes, farms & businesses in Wales & West England. This includes tech leader Elon Musk’s Starlink internet system and CCTV.
According to Companies House Dyfed appointed FTS Recovery as administrators on February 28. In its most recent financial results to the year ending September 30, 2023, it had net liabilities of just over £28,000.
As part of the deal, Northern Telecom will absorb 4000 of Dyfed Telecom’s customers, along with creating jobs for 22 of the company’s existing employees.
This is the latest in a string of acquisitions for Northern Telecom, which has already scooped up Direct Market Services Limited and Toople.com, Utility Point Telecoms and Allteks and Absols in recent years.
Jon Graves, founder and CEO at Northern Telecom, said: “In the coming weeks and months, we look forward to integrating Dyfed Telecom and ensuring a smooth transition for both customers and employees. We have worked with the Mincoffs team for a number of years now and their ability to deliver expert legal support in a tight timeframe has been essential in delivering our growth strategy. We’re excited about the future and can’t wait to welcome the Dyfed Telecom team into our business.”
Mincoffs Corporate partner Chris Hughes worked closely with Jon and the team and said: “It was our pleasure to deliver yet another successful acquisition for Northern Telecom. It continues to expand its significant presence in the telecommunications sector, and we look forward to working together on future transactions as the business continues to grow.”
