A 300-year-old stone pub in the North Yorkshire village of Fadmoor has been put onto the market for £495,000.
Currently owned by multi-millionaire Peter Wilkinson, the two-storey Plough Inn comprises a four-bedroom living area for the owners plus 0.4 acres of adjoining land and the freehold. The asking price includes all of the pub's contents and equipment.
Local residents in Fadmoor have objected to the sale of the pub by Wilkinson, who appeared on the 2011 Sunday Times Rich List claiming to have a portfolio of business interests totalling £302 million.
Estate agents Fleurets are handling the sale of The Plough Inn on behalf of its owner. Nick Germani from the agency told The York Press, “The Plough is up for sale as a public house, but potentially could be used for an alternative use, that’s for the buyers to decide.
“It’s very early days, but there has been some interest. The village attracts a lot of people, and there’s not much else like it at the moment,” he added.
In the past, the pub was well known for serving some of the best food in the local area, achieving several glowing reviews from food critics.
The successful purchaser will acquire a fast growing, leading independent recruitment agency, providing temporary, contract, an permanent positions and solutions across various sectors nationwide.
It’s a family business, known for its reliability, its good network and competitive pricing, working for well-established builders and civil engineering companies, enjoying an excellent reputation, predominantly in Manchester and the Northwest.
