Private equity backed Morson Group has bought niche safety and control systems engineering company Orange Solutions adding to its portfolio of engineering consultancy businesses.
The deal further strengthens the range and reach of Morson’s engineering capabilities, which already includes Morson Projects, Waldeck and Ematics, to help deliver mission critical projects across an array of key sectors, including aerospace, marine, defence, and energy.
Salford-based Morson, in which Onex, one of the biggest private equity investors in Canada took a majority stake last year, is a specialist recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) business with a strong presence in the defence industry.
Over its 50-year history Morson has evolved into a diverse and global collection of businesses, building on its reputation as a recruitment agency to offer engineering, consultancy, training, recruitment technology and screening services across the UK, US and Canada.
Manchester-based Orange Solutions is a well-established engineering business supplying full turnkey control system projects, including design, manufacture, engineering, testing, installation management, and commissioning.
It has been involved in safety critical projects across a variety of sectors, including utilities, oil & gas, marine, renewables, petrochemicals, pharmaceutical, transport infrastructure, and heavy industry, both in the UK and internationally. Its track record includes safety critical systems for fire detection, fire protection, and environmental monitoring for offshore wind generation, oil and gas, and major construction sites.
Morson Group CEO, Ged Mason said: “The synergy between Orange Solutions’ track record and client base, and our Ematics business will enable us to offer clients even more expertise from within the Morson Group, with additional capacity and capabilities to resource projects effectively.”
Following the acquisition, Orange Solutions’s founder and managing director, Tony Hynes, will remain in post, along with the company’s experienced team of engineers.
Hynes said: “Orange Solutions has grown by providing the knowledge and experience needed to deliver complex projects on time. With so much potential in our sectors, the time was right for us to seek a strategic partner that can support our continued growth. As part of the Morson Group, we will continue to build on our reputation, while enabling our clients to tap into the 1,200 engineers employed across Morson’s engineering division.”
